Back of Chapel is a breath of fresh air in the world of hostelling. At Back of Chapel we pride ourselves on offering the most fun, friendly, chilled out and relaxing hostel in Melbourne. The days of curfews and stuffy insititutional atmosphere are gone...from now on, Back of Chapel, really is your home away from home!

Back of Chapel is a recently renovated 150 year old Victorian Terrace on the doorstep of Chapel Street - one of Melbourne's most funky and exciting areas. We've a huge fully equipped kitchen, with boiling hot water dispenser for tea and coffee ( no bulky kettles) private showers, recliner chairs, comfy couches, internet access, brand spanking new coil beds, balconies, reading room, TV lounge (you really have to see the size of the TV to believe it!), leafy courtyard, air-conditioning in common rooms, BBQ, laundry facilities...phew...what else?...how about free daily breakfast, free BBQs, free tea & coffee, free movie nights, free lockers, free pie and chip nights. Have we got your attention yet?
If not shall I point out we're only a hop, skip and a jump from St. Kilda and the city!

New mattresses, pillows, linen. Hostel cleaned twice daily
Winter specials double rooms at $25 per person min. stay 14 nights (twin share)
6 bed bed dorms min. stay 7 nights at $18 per night in June/july including breakfast
but must be paid one week full at check in. Check under the 'Specials' page.

If you have children they must be added as guests and can only occupy our private rooms.
No animals allowed as some people have allergies to them in dorms - no joke!

We have opened our new hostel for backpackers who are not backpackers any more its the first Melbourne flashpacker for long term stays please contact us directly.

During major events and holidays we will charge full amount of total booking for those who do not show or do not cancel without a 48 hour notcie period

Same applies for christmas to New Year bookings and Australian Open in January
